WOMAN FOR TRIAL

Charges of forging a State Advances Corporation voucher for £20 10s by signing her name to it with the intention that it be acted upon as genuine and also with stealing that amount were preferred against Alice Hughes, of the Kairanga-Bunnythorpe road, wife of a farm hand, in the Magistrate's Court. Evidence was given that the voucher was intended for Mrs. Alice Hughes, of Setters Line. It represented a refund of surplus money held under a dairy order, the police said. • The accused, in a statement, said she thought (he money might have been left her by her father's relatives in England. In Court the accused said she. acted innocently. The money would be refunded in July. The accused pleaded not guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial.. Bail was allowed.'
