The monthly meeting of the management committee of the .'Wellington Boys' Institute arid S. A. : Khodes' Home for Uoys was held on Monday-night. In presenting his report' ior■'•■■■■.-the month of May, the.-directbr-statetL that owing; to the infantile paralysis -restrictions being in existence during the month. the activities . f or. boys ■ under sixteen had been somewhat restricted. Boys over sixteen years.of-.age,'how-ever, have been fully active in ;the gymnasium,' games, room*: and on the tootballfields. The institute had been represented at football, each; SaturiJay afternoon by two teamsof.boys under eight years of age and two teams under sixteen years/of-agei With the lifting of the restrictions for boys under-16, teams would be playing in thie'grades under 14, under 13,: and 12 -years", of age. ■ :"-.' ■' ■ •'. ;'.. -" --, --:-,■ : : -\ :■-■ The Sunday morning. Owing; to an increase in award Tates a number of the older boys-would; .l)e leaving shortly, making room for boys in tiieir first year of apprenticeship. -The' boarding establishment was greatly "indebted to the ladies' auxiliary;--who-acted'in an advisory, capacity to the management committee oh matters in '■■: con-" nection with the domestic arrangements of the homeland who,supervised the work, of the matron and- her "'staff.
During the evening a motion of, condolence was passed with-Mr. .J.'-'D. Howitt in the loss'he had sustained in the death of his mother, the members standing in silence. \ . ■:. ■ .■': -. A gift of two brochures of the' Boys' Institute from Miss M. Hopkirk and Mr. A. H. Wallace were handed over to the committee by Mr; Ad. Howitt, and were very greatly appreciated.
