NORTH AUCKLAND
RAISING OF STATUS
(By Telegraph—Press Association)
WHANGAREI, This Day.
Referring to the advocacy of a provincial status for North Auckland last night, the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. E. Parry) said he had watched Whangarei grow consistently for many years. It was destined to be a northern city. "Some feel keenly in regard to provincial status, but there is no such thing legally in the Dominion," he said. "The future of North Auckland is of immense value in regard to national productivity. There is no doubt about raising the status which is based on the foundation, of the district itself." If there was anything he could do he would regard it as a privilege to help.
