ITALY PREPARING
NEW. FOREIGN ADVENTURE
A BRITISH FORECAST
LONDON, May 25.
Sigiior Mussoiini is preparing for a new foreign adventure, according to forecasts made by the diplomatic correspondent of the "Daily Herald." ' "This is what lies behind the report of the Communist rising in Albania," he says. "The alliance between Albania and Italy, and the steady Italian penetration, are intensely unpopular among Albanians, and the visit.of the Italian Foreign Minister (Count Ciano) added to the discontent, and it is probable that' tliere has been, some kind of a demonstration in southern Albania. However, a Communist rising is grotesque, but opportunity may be taken for drastic action against the -anti-Italian elements, and it is.likely that before long Italy'will be obliged to provide assistance to King Zog's Government in order to save Albania from Communism."
"The ■ new ■ developments and the increase in the distrust of Italy's intentions are already being felt in Balkan countries', and also give new point to the conversation between the British Foreign .Secretary (Mr. Eden) with the Turkish Premier (General Ismet Inonu). The Turks are anxious for a close entente with Britain. Britain and Turkey, they argue, are vitally interested in the maintenance both of peace and 'the status quo in the Eastern Mediterranean. Britain is the strongest naval Power in that region, and Turkey the strongest military Power, and she is negotiating for a close mid-Asian entente with Irak, Iran, and Afghanistan. The Turks regard Italy in the East as a menace both . to Britain and to Turkey."
