"SKEET" SHOOTING
N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIPS
The first New Zealand "skeet" championships were held, at Lower Hutt today. "Skeet" shooting is comparatively new. to this country,, although very popular overseas. Clay birds are released from two electrically-operated traps, one high and one low, which stand opposite each other. There are eight stations in a semi-circle for the shooters and a team of five goes round together, shooting in turn from one station before moving on to the, next. These traps are believed to be the only ones of their kind in the Southern Hemisphere.
