YOUNG MEN FINED
The action of two young men, Em-, esf Henry Turner and Ainsleigh Les-lie-Power, in shooting at. logs in the Hutt River, resulted in'charges of discharging ...22 rifles to 'the danger ■ of passers-by being made against them in the Lower Hutt Court today. '
Constable Jones said that about 4 p:m. on May 9 he found the defendants on the western bank of the river; firing at logs; and in the direction of the • township. As the result of inquiries made : charges concerning the ownership ■■ of. the rifles were made in addition ./.to those connected with discharging them. ' ■ :'
For discharging the rifles, Turner was firiea £2 and Power £1; the latter in addition being ordered to pay costs on a charge of procuring possession of the rifle without a permit.
Owen Hurney was fined £I'for procuring possession of a -rifle without a permit and Frederick Hone Andrews was fined I.os for delivering possession of a rifle, without a permit. ■■"•■ '
