COLLAPSE IN SURGERY

INQUEST ADJOURNED

AUCKLAND, This Day.

When an anaesthetic was being administered to prepare Doreen Lily Paton. aged 18, for a tonsil operation in a city surgery yesterday morning the girl collapsed and died. The girl developed a cold and sore throat a few days ago, and on Tuesday a doctor was called in. Yesterday he called for the girl in his car and took her to his surgery and had only started to administer the anaesthetic when she died. ' *■ The father, William Paton, labourer, residing at Epsom, gave evidence at an inquest today that the girl had complained of difficulty in breathing. The Coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, adjourned the inquest sine die. . ,
