MEN'S HOCKEY

THEFT FROM SHEDS

Mr. C. P. McKenzie. presided at • meeting of the Wellington Hockey Association last night.

A complaint was received from the Wesley Club regarding1 thefts from the dressing-sheds at Karori Park. The secretary of the club stated that last week six players lost all their money ranging from 2s to 30s. The chairman said the association would take steps to lock the doors of the sheds while the players were on the field. It was also suggested that players should take their valuables on to the grounds when playing.

It was decided to grant permission to any club wishing to participate in seven-a-side or five-a-side tournaments outside Wellington on the King's Birthday. Advice was received that a Wesley Club senior team intended to travel to Hawera on June 9 to take part in a seven-a-side tournament there. •

The chairman reported that Mr. O K. Perrin and he had waited qn the reserves committee of the City 'Council with a view to obtaining No. 1. ground at Karori Park for men's hockey. No reply had yet been received, but if when it came to hand it was unsatisfactory the association would send a deputation to the City Council.

It was agreed, to contribute £2 2s towards the King George V Memorial Fund. This is in addition to amounts already given by individual clubs.

The Napier Hockey Association advised that June 12 would be a suitable date for the match against Wellington at Wellington.

In view of the trial match on June 12 between nominees for the New Zealand team to tour Australia this year, senior A matches set down for that date have been postponed.
