A SATISFACTORY YEAR
Satisfaction with .the result of the year's operations is exposed by the committee of the Canterbury Jockey Club in its annual report and balancesheet. Stakes distributed were £5550 in excess of the previous year's, which was made possible by increased revenue from the • totalizator and other sources. . ■ .. The income and expenditure account for the year ended April 30 shows an excess of £4703 13s 4d in income over expenditure. The balance-sheet discloses a balance due to bank of £5781 14s Bd. The club's assets are stated at £91,878 0s 7d, including stands, buildings, etc., at £71.814 17s Id; and new totalisator, less depreciation of £1859 7s 3d, at £10.536 7s sd. An interesting item is refund of sales tax on the new totalisator at £514 5s Bd,
