Card Party. " - J ' ' The clubrobm,. of .tne ; _Kilbirnie auxiliary branch of the "Returned Soldiers' Association, Bay Road, Kilbirnie, was filled to its- capacity for the card party last night.. The successful participants were:—Bridge, Mrs. W. Haughton and',Mr.'F. Spiers; "500," Mesdames Thomson. and Butler; special prize, , Mrs, - Charman. The afternoon games were won by . Mrs. R. V. A. Knox (bridge), Mrs. G. d'Emden ("500"). The president of the ladies' committee, Mrs. 'H. Q. Bruce, announced that a "bringl and buy" , evening, in aid of the King George V Memorial Fund, would-be held-with the card function on June 1. The next I korero has been arranged for May'2s. i Farewell Tarty. A delightful farewell- party was 1 given by the Board of Control of the Wellington Hostel for Returned Soldiers, at the Hotel St. George, for, their president, Mrs. E. J. Moore and her daughter, Mrs. Thornley who are leaving for an extended tour of the East. i Good wishes were expressed for a 1 happy holiday. Mrs. Moore.has been | president of the Hostel, for twelve years, and during that time has doa« much to help the disabled ex-service* 1 men.
