MR. SAVAGE'S MESSAGE

"COMMON HERITAGE"

(Received May 13, 11 a.m.)

. LONDON, May 12. The following ' message was broadcast by Mr. Savage:—

"As the representative of New Zealand at the Coronation, it is my great privilege and honour to be the bearer to their Majesties of a sincere message of loyalty and congratulation. The people of New Zealand, both Maori and pakeha, join today with other British peoples in all parts of trie . world in proclaiming their allegiance to the King and Queen. We in New Zealand look upon the Crown as a vital element in the life of the British Commonwealth. The Crown is more than a symbol of Imperial unity. For us it is a cherished part of the common heritage we share with our kinsfolk in, other parts of the Empire. We pray that his Majesty's reign will be long, and that Provid: ence will bless his people with peace and prosperity."
