SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS.

A rather intense anticyclone covered the Dominion yesterday. Winds were light, and variable with southerlies slightly predominating. The weather was fine and fairly mild at most places but there were still some scattered light rains in the north-eastern and far northern portions of the North Island. This morning the central area of the anticyclone lay along the east coast. Winds are tending north-easterly and have freshened in the far north,, where rain is becoming more widespread. A trough of low pressure extends in a north to south direction across the Tasman Sea, the deepest portion being In the north.
