Some exporting countries to this market were not quoting for supplies. Representatives .of an American house had also advised that further price increases had taken place, in regard to fencing wire, and ordinary' plain galvanised wire was being quoted for. indent at;' almost double the price of six to nine months ago, consequent on the rise on the English market which imposed extra landed cost beyond the actual price advance. [■-. ■ Corrugated and plain sheet iron have also increased further in price. Corrugated iron has advanced by, £1 10s a ton and plain iron by £2 a ton, the price today representing a rise of about £10 a ton compared with six months ago. [ Practically all lines of builders hardware are showing the satte soaring trend. This is the case particularly in regard to materials made from English metals, the rise, on' foreign articles not being so pronounced.
