SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS.
A very intense depression covers the Dominion today, tho barometer nt Bluff being as low us 2S.SI indies at 0 a.m. Strong westerly winds liavo predominated, of gale force at many places and tho weather has been changeable and squally cenerally. Conditions hare been particularly boisterous In districts with a westerly aspect and tho far south with heavy rain at times and in places hall. There has also been considerable snowfall on the ranges of. tho South Island. Iv tho eastern coastal arens, however, except for a few scattered showers and strong winds, tho weather has been mainly fine.
