MERINOS FALL IN PRICE
Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their London agents, dated May 3:—The auctions continue fairly animated, but the market has developed a weaker tone since tho opening. Greasy merinos show a decline of id to Id and slipe halfbred lambs "Id-to'lid. Otherwise the market is unchanged. The following prices are current:— Merino, super 20d to 21d per lb, average 17d to 18d; fine halfbred, super (56-58's) 20d to 21d, average 18d to 19d; medium halfbred, super (50-56's) 17Jd to 18Jd; average 16£ dto 17A; extra fine crossbred, super (48-50's) 17d tolßd, average 16Jd to 17d; fine crossbred, super (46-48;s) 17d to 17Jd, average 16id to 17d; medium crossbred, super (44-46's) 17d to 17Jd, average 16d to 16Jd; coarse crossbred, super (40-44's) 17d to 17Jd, average 16d to 16id; low crossbred, super (36-40's) 17d to 17.] d, average 16d to 16Jd; pieces, 13d to 14d; bellies, lid to 12id; locks, lOd to lid.
