WOMAN DISAPPEARS
RANGATIRA MYSTERY
BELIEVED LOST OVERBOARD
The disappearance of an elderly first-class passenger was.reported lo the police when the Union Steam Ship Company's express steamer Rangatira arrived here from Lyttelton early yesterday morning. - The- passenger was Mrs. N. G. Fulton, who was travelling with her husband, Government dairy produce grader at the Wanganui Harbour Board's stores, Castlecliff. Mrs: Fulton had been south to Hanmer, and was returning accompanied by her husband on account of her nervous condition. The two occupied a two-berth deck cabin. Shortly after 11 p.m. they retired. A stewardess who went to the cabin at about 6.30 a.m. with a glass of milk for Mrs. Fulton found her berth unoccupied. A search of the ship was made immediately, but proved fruitless. It is believed that Mrs. Fulton left the cabin without her husband's knowledge some time after retiring, and was lost overboard. She was apparently wearing her night attire.
