Conditions were not so favourable on the links during the weekend at Manor
Park,'and very few good cards were handed in. ' . On ■ Saturday, in an 18-hole stroke, the best cards rendered were: D. Woon, 80/ 12—68; C. Allan, 80, 14—66; and S. Hbllobpn, 93, 24-;-69, in the senior, intermediate, and junior sections respectively. ■ ■' . -.-Competitors found the heavy conditions too much" for .them on, Sunday morning in the 18-hole foursome bogey, and.the winners, C. Allan:and C. Sawyers, found that 4 down was good enough to win. This pair. won. on'a count back from >D. Woon and J. Ogilyie, who also finished 4 down. ■';in-the afternoon, the winners of the fourball best-ball bogey were F. Gruar (15) and W. Hodges (18), who finished 5 up/followed by.F. Titterington (9) and D. Butler (5), who were 4'up.
Next Saturday's competition is an 18-hole Stableford, the match fees to be donated .to the King, George V National Memorial Fund. Any player not entering for this competition will find 'a subscription list in. the clubhouse,- and the committee would appreciate any donation. Players desiring' to ■ enter for the senior and junior fourball two-life competition may hand their names to any of the match committee during the week.; .
