PRE-WEDDING PARTIES
Miss Eleanor Johnson, Island Bay, whose marriage to Mr. Bob Johnson will take place this week, has been the guest of honour at several recent parties. Her chief bridesmaid, Miss Lilian Ballinger, was hostess at. a pantry evening. Games and competition were enjoyed by the * guests, who included Mesdarnes A. M. Johnson and .C.'Meacheri,'Misses ''M. Martin, R. Veriables, C." Spurdle, F. and1 E. Bal,linger, G. and A. Gunn, K. Direen, J. Hutchison, G. Roberts, E. Bruce, O. McMillan, and E. Macintosh.
■• Miss May Martin entertained . for Miss Johnson,on Saturday evening .it the residence of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Martin, Melling. Manyl friends of the prospective bride and! groom were present and a very happy evening was passed in music,. games, and competitions. Recitations were given by Miss G. Gunn, songs by Mr. Bob Johnson and Miss Thea Baigent, and pianoforte duets were played by Mr. and Mrs. A. Mill. Mrs. M. S. Martin wore a gown of pearl-beige lace and Miss Martin's frock of cobweb grey corded silk had touches of scarlet. Miss Eleanor Johnson wore a longsleeved frock of. black chiffon velvet with a halter-yoke of fine. lace. After the serving of a delicious buffet supper, many parcels containing china and kitchenware were opened. Among the guests were Mr. and. Mrs. .Johnson. Mrs. A. Johnson, Mrs. L. B. Quinton, Mrs. S.
