VITAL STATISTICS
There was an all-round increase in the vital statistics returns for the first four months of the present year, when compared with the figures for the same period last year. The figures for April this year, with those for April, 1936, in parentheses, are as follows:— Births, 185 (120); deaths, 89 (93); marriage notices, 140 (173); marriages by registrar, 36 (49). The following are the totals for the first four months:—Births, 728 (674); deaths, 417 (383); marriage notices, 681 (606); marriages by registrar, 134 (108).
