NURSES' MEMORIAL

For some years the nurses of the Wellington Hospital and nurses who served during the war years have been working to raise funds to build a memorial to the nurses who died while on active service and those nurses who have died since serving overseas. They propose to erect a memorial chapel in the grounds of the hospital so that it will serve the dual purpose of a memorial and a place of worship, and it is understood that the Hospital Board is prepared to supply a suitable site. Approximately £500 has already been collected towards a building fund, and if this can be doubled the objective of the nurses will be in sight. An active campaign to raise the required sum will bo conducted shortly, and a number of picture benefits will be held in the city, commencing with the St. James Theatre on May 20,
