FORTUNE IN BALANCE
AN UNLOCATED HEIR
HUNT IN AUSTRALIA
(From "The Post's" Representative.)
SYDNEY, April 21.
Mystery surrounds the disappearance of Ernest Dixon, 46, whose father died recently in England, leaving him a fortune. Unless Dixon is found before March 5, 1938, the fortune, by the terms of the will, will go to-other sources. The police think that Dixon, a fencing contractor, is at present working in some remote spot and has not seen advertisements. !
According to a report received in Sydney from the Queensland police, Dixon told Constable Lewis, of Rockihampton, that he was leaving by the next boat for : England to collect £10,000, which was due to him on an insurance policy. This was before his father, who left, another .considerable fortune, died. .'■■•'
A check-up on all the'shipping firms failed to show trace of Dixon's movements. The police believe that he is still in Australia, unaware of his good fortune.
Dixon was last seen in Lismore, in July,. 1936. He left in a hotel a suitcase containing a number of valuables, which he has not since claimed. A firm of Yorkshire solicitors has communicated with the Sydney police, asking that Dixon should be advertised for throughout New South Wales. Advertisements inserted in newspapers in northern New South Wales, where Dixon was known to be working at one time, have failed to locate him. According to the terms of the will, the money left to Dixon will go to other sources unless he is'located within 12 months of his father's, death. The father, John Dixon, of Yorkshire, died on March 5.
Dixon, who is said to be invariably well dressed and quietly spoken, will be worth a considerable amount in addition to the £10,000 insurance if he is found in time. .: ■
Dlxon has been working in Queensland and Northern New South Walea.
