CANARY SEED SHORT.
Canary 'seed is a far more important article of trade in New Zealand than may be Supposed. Argentina is the chief source of supply, but Turkey is, also an exporter to New Zealand of this food for birds. Advices were received in Wellington by cable yesterday that a further rise had taken place in the price of Argentine seed for shipment May, June, July, or August. The latest advance brings the price of this 'seed up to 50 per cent, on rates ruling three months back. Supplies from Morocco are almost impossible to obtain and South America reports a short crop.
