THE TWO THOUSAND

OBSCURE WINNER

United Press Association—By Electric Teleerapb—'Cops'rlght. (Received April 29, ll!30 a.m.) LONDON, April 28. At the Newmarket Spring Meeting the following was the result of the

TWO THOUSAND GUINEAS STAKES; of 5 soys each and forfeit, with 2000 guineas added (value last year £9339); three-year-olds; 1 mile. Leksar 1 M. M. Boussac's Goya 11, by Lour- : billon —Zariba 2 Mrs. G. B. Miller's Midday Sun, by Solario—Bridge of Allan .... 3 Eighteen started. Won by four lengths; half a length.

Leksar seems to be an obscure colt. He did not race as a two-year-old, and was not accorded an entry in the Free Handicap, for which Goya II was second topweight with 9.1. Midday Sun had 7.1 in that race.

The Two Thousand Guineas is the first of the big English classics. When the last mails left England Fair Copy was favourite. He was probably the best two-year-old last season, and as he had not been entered for the. Derby he was receiving a special preparation for the earlier event. The Derby favourite The Hour was also .well fancied.

The Aga Khan as usual had more than one starter; The pick of his three-year-olds were expected •to be Le Grand Due, Ali Pasha, and Pherozshah. His son, Prince Aly Khan, was probably represented by Sultan Mahomed. Other discussed candidates were the American-owned Foray, Pascal, Full Sail, and Cash Book.
