The Australian Davis Cup team's physician surprised V. B. McGrath.! -by ordering him to resume practice to see how his thumb felt. After playing McGrath felt all: right. The physician believes that the abscess will disappear without lancing. v
The team practised for an-hour and a half. In the doubles A. K. Quist and McGrath defeated J. Crawford and. J. Bromwich, 64. McGrath and Bromwich defeated Crawford and Quist, 8-6. ": -■•■;v ■
In the singles Crawford defeated McGrath, 6-2. McGrath defeated Quist, 6-3.
In an interview, Senor Butlin, the former Mexican champion, who has been a daily spectator at the practices, said the Australian team ~ was the strongest team of .any nationality that had been here. It .was even stronger than W.; T. Tilden's team of 13 years ago. • ■
