GERMAN DISCHARGED
LACK OF EVIDENCE
OFFICIAL SECRETS CHARGE
(Received April 28, 12.30 ,p.m.) . LONDON, April 27. Otto Karl Ludwig, the German who was charged on April 12 with an offence under the Official Secrets Act, has been discharged, as the Director of Public Prosecutions .decided' that there was no evidence and asked for a dismissal of the charge. . ' • It ,is revealed that Ludwig had blueprints of an armour-piercing- bullet, butthe prosecution was' satisfied that he was entited to have them.
Ludwig was charged with being an alien and attempting to land in the United Kingdom at Parkeston Quay in possession .of documents and data calculated to constitute an act preparatory to the commission of an offence under the Official Secrets Act. The police stated in evidence that Ludwig arrived from the Hook of Holland, and when he was charged he said: "I did not realise I had committed an offence. I protest against my arrest." In view of the nature of the documents, the police communicated with the War Offce. ■ ■ "
