STREET-WIDENING WORK

'(To the Editor.) Sir,—At Petone the Borough Council, step by step, has widened Jackson Street, the main thoroughfare of the town. In Wellington our City Council should make a start with Taranaki Street widening, and do something to clean up this part of the city area. In times.of ,depression it is said there is no money, in times of prosperity nothing is done, and so nothing is ever done.
