PROMOTION OF TEAMS

At the end of the first round of the Wellington Rugby Union's senior, competitions this season, the two leading teams in the second division of the senior A,; grade will be promoted to the first division, and the two leading teams of the'senior,; B grade to the senior A' second division. The decision, .made at last night's meeting of the. management committee of the Wellington Rugby Union, is different from last: year, when four teams of the- senior-B grade were promoted to the'second division. Recently, the union,was. approached; by a deputation representing the Wel-: lington arid Hutt primary schools asking for permission -to approach the New Zealand Union for a grant of £50 covering the,cost.of the .annual quadrangular primary school tournaments. Last-night the union was advised by the New. Zealand Union's Council that the deputation .would, not be received. "The council intends to discuss the matter of school . tournaments generally shortly and in the meantime no other action is being taken," the New Zealand union's letter stated. :
