RIDING ON RUNNING BOARD

In the Petone Court yesterday, Robert Pengelly was charged'with aiding in the commission of an offence, the offence being the driving of a motor-car in Udy Street so loaded as to be liable to cause injury to a person. Mr. G. A. Booth, Petone borough inspector, said that the driver of the car was dealt with on the last Court day. Pengelly was riding on the running board on the driver's side of the car, and if the driver wanted to make a signal he could not do so. There, was no room for Pengelly inside. He did not know that he was committing an offence. The Magistrate's (Mr. H. P. Lawry, S.M.) imposed a fine of £1.
