The board of; directors of the Hutt Valley Y:M.C.A.;held the first meeting of the year i recently, there; being present Messrs. H. W.Kersley (chairman), W. B. Nicholson, C. G. Hedge, W. Carey, A. E. Lambourn, J. B. McConville,. the Rev. J.C. Ldan,, and Mr. A. C. Edwards (general: secretary). . The secretary reported that.owing to the outbreak-of.infantile paralysis, .the association, had .been advised .by the health authorities to postpone or cancel the boys' annual summer camp, ■which this year was to ; have been, held on Mr. W. H. Field's. property at. Waikanae. '. ' ■■!■.'■ •"■.■• ■ '-. . It was reported that during the recess a great deal: had;. been done to decorate the interior ofv the rooms, and the building was now in splendid condition for the coming season's activities. The gymnasium classes • for; girls and boys, men and young men, commenced on March-15. The-senior leaSers corps undergoing a special 'course of training. ' There .were no«unemployed boys on the register' of -the association. ' It was stated-that-the question of forming an- optimists' '■ club in ■, connection., with ■ the local.association was re-: ceiving consideration.
