HOUSING SCHEME
DEPUTATION TO MR. LEE
Introduced; by 'Mr. •B. Roberts, M.P. for Wairarapa, a deputation from the Upper Hutt Borough Council,* consisting of the Mayor (Mr. A. J. McCurdy), and Councillors J. Blewman, W. Greig, G. H. Guthrie, J. Purvis, and A. Sutherland, waited on Mr. J. A. Lee, M.P., Under-Secretary' to the Minister of Finance yesterday and requested that the Government housing scheme, which'includes Taita, should be extended to Upper-Hutt.
Mr./ Lee ". expressed appreciation of the friendly nature of the deputation. He; outlined the Government's commitments ' under the scheme and said he, could.hold out no hope of this scheme being: extended to the Upper Hutt' district.
Other matters connected with housing were discussed.
