TO HELP GENUINE JUMPER
A new rule adopted by the V.R.C. stipulates that the topweight in a handicap steeplechase shall carry not less than 11.7. The top weight to be allotted in a handicap steeplechase shall not be less than 11.7, and, if on acceptance day horses with that impost or more are withdrawn, the horse next on the list will be raised to 11.7, and his opponents raised accordingly. For example, if the accepting topweight has only 11.0 he~ will, be automatically raised 71b, as will his opponents. The rule, with its provision of higher weights, is expected to react in favour of the genuine, steeplechaser.
