MINOR CITY WORKS
Improvements are to be made in the lighting of the following city streets:— Beerehaven steps, Newport Terrace, Roxburgh, lower Taranaki, and lower Tory Streets, Thane Road, and. View Road.
Provision is to be made on the draft estimates for stprmwater drainage at Anne Street. Other estimate items proposed by the Works Committee are £200 for a new watermain in Bunny Street and £500 for plant for street sealing work.
in relation to the production and marketing of onions in New Zealand. "Complementary to the regulations governing conditions of sale, the import position 's being controlled through the Customs Act, whereby it will be illegal to import onions other than with the consent of the Minister of Customs. For this purpose it will be necessary for importers to 'apply for a licence when it has been determined what volume of onions is necessary to cater adequately for the local market. The above regulations are being gazetted under the Board of Trade Act, but will be administered by the Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. .W. Lee Martin)."
