SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS.

Another of the present- protracted series of depressions has moved on to the South Is< land since last night and consequently, modi crate to strong south-westerly winds had, \>i this morning, given place to northerlles at many places about and south of Cook Strait.
