TIMARU, March 11
The annual conference of the New Zealand Municipal Electric Supply Associations was held today. The remits were nearly all those which had been passed at the previous conference.
The election of officers resulted: President, Mr. C. O. Morse (Napier); vice-presidents, Messrs. M. E. Lyons (Christchurch) and A. E. Mansford (Palmerston North); executive, Messrs. J. Miller (Invercargill), W. Appletpn (Wellington), P. Stainton (New Plymouth), J. Fraser (Rangiora),. H. L: Harker (Wairoa), and C. Grange (Thames).
A 44-year-old man, William Hoffman, who fell asleep in bed while smoking and thus set fire to the' house, causing the death ot five persons, has been arrested in New York and charged with cp™nri rioarro manslaughter.. , ■
