AVIATION IN AUSTRALIA
AGREEMENT MADE
CO-ORDINATION OF ALL MAJOR SERVICES
SYDNEY, March 10,
It is announced that Qantas Empire Airways Limited, Airlines of Australia, and Australian National Airways have completed an agreement "for the coordination of all major air services in the Commonwealth." A spokesman for one company stated .that the basis of the agreement was "an association of interests" but no
merger. ; A message from Canberra states that the Minister of Defence (Sir Archdale Parkhill), referring to the announcement, said that the Commonwealth Government was opposed to anything in the way of monopolies on the part of commercial aviation. The Government considered free competition was best for all concerned.
