EARLY FRENCH WALLPAPERS

The Revolution and Napoleonic subjects were taken by.the artist-producers in many cases,-arid gave.'the impression-, of ,being "descendants' of tapestries," states an English-, writer. Two most delightful designs by Duf our, of. Paris, are shown in "The •: Queen,":" one of the "Bay of Naples" and the other "On the Shores of the Bosphorus." Both are full of exquisite detail, and it may be supposed that the ■ wallpapers of the time were .expensive, and re-;, moved any need for pictures. An ad-: mirable set was: that depicting the voyages of Captain Cook, entitled "Savages of the Pacific Ocean."
