NEWTOWN CLUB
'An "enjoyable afternoon's bowling was appreciated by the members of the Newtown-bowling green on Saturday, the'occasion being President's Day. Three games were 'played, and after some close contests one rink, Messrs. Meek, Jupp, West,.Warwick (s) won three games. After the games, members assembled in the clubroom, and Mr. J. M. Porter (president) presented trophies to each member of the winning rink and also to-the runnersup, skipped by Mr. J. Russell. Mr. Porter referred to the pleasure he had had during his five years as president, and thanked members for their loyal support and co-operation. Mr. Booth (vice-president) thanked Mr. Porter for his services to the club over such a period,, and trusted that President's Day would be an annual event. • . ■ , Cheers and musical honours for Mr. and Mrs; Porter concluded a pleasant function. < • -
