LAST WELLINGTON SALE
The Wellington Wool Brokers' Association advises the gross proceeds-of the wool sale held in Wellington on February 19 as amounting to £649,495 14s. The results of the sale were as follows:— Bales. Wool offered 30.82S Wool sold 29,833 Wool passed in 988 Purchased by N. 2. mills 516 The weight of wool sold was 10.649,6101b. Net proceeds of the sala were £649,495 14s, equal to £21 las 4d per bale and 14.037 d per lb. The market was easier at this sale than it was at the January sale held in this centre, and prices were lower, as follows: —Merinos and halfbreds, 2d to 2ld down; good-style crossbreds, 3d to Id; medium and fine average crossbreds, Id to lid: coarse crossbreds. 3d to Id; lambs, 2d; bellies, pieces, and locks, id; all down on January. • The "February catalogue, however, was not of equal quality with that for ' the January sale, consisting of ordinary topmaking wools. To a certain extent this would, account for prices being , easier. At. the same time, prices realised ] were distinctly in advance of those ruling at the February, sale of last : year, when 29.465 bales were sold at an average of 8.76 d per lb, or £13 6s - lOd per bale. ;
