AIMS OF INSTITUTE
OFFICERS ELECTED
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) TIMARU, March 9. The annual conference of the Institute of Town Clerks was held at Tjmaru today, delegates being welcomed by the Mayor (Mr. P. C. Vinnell). The president (Mr. P. Skoglund) acknowledged the welcome, and said the institute was hoping to get a Bill through Parliament which would enable a diploma to be given for public body work. This would give younger men something to strive for, and so place the institute on a higher footing. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr. B. S. Knox (Lower Hutt); vice-presidents: North Island, Mr. J. Hardie (Palmerston North), Mr. | H. Harding (Hastings), and Mr G. Murch (Wanganui); South Island, Mr. J. Menzies (Sumner), Mr. J. Fraser (Rangiora). and Mr. W. Sturman (Invercargill); executive, Messrs. J. Bovis (Shannon), C. Bishop (Eastbourne), H. Firth (Petono), G. O'Hara Smith (Dannevirke), and H. Jenkins (Levin).
