ENGLISH BATTING

Rain prevented play until 2 p.m. on the .second and last day of the cricket match between England and the Country League. The match was drawn. Country closed its innings at the tea adjournment to allow England to bat again. Davidson, a left-hander with a strong defence, scored mostly with snicks and glances, in making 52, retired. He batted 146 minutes. Heavey, who made 30, gave a strong, attractive exhibition of free hitting, scoring two sixes and three fours. On a dead wicket J. M. Sims and W. Copson were the best bowlers, but'G. O. Allen, coming on late, had the best average.
Little enterprise was shown when England batted again. R. E. S. Wyatt was sound. H. Verity concentrated on defence, and was deadly slow. He scored 22 singles and one four in 77 minutes. M.
