RECOVERING IN HOSPITAL

NAMES OF THE DEAD

SYDNEY, This Day.

The three survivors of the' launch ragedy are Edward Brown, aged 31, Alfred O'Brien, 44, and James Powney, 41. They are now recovering in Manly Hospital. ,

Powney was rescued by five members of the Manly Surf Club who went out to him in a surf boat. Powney had drifted nearly six miles from the scene of'the wreck. He collapsed when hauled into the boat. f The names of those who were drowned are believed to be Thomas Snail, aged about 30; Edward■ Dewhurst, 35; Albert Johnson, 23; Thomas Robinson, about 40, Thomas Gray, 42; and James Lavery, 29.

The body of one-man.jbelieved- to be that of Snail, was washed ashore almost naked and dreadfully battered.

Searchlights from the military reserve at the south head and from the Captain Cook were played for hours on the.cliff face late last night while Inspector "Wenham, of the Manly Police, who had collapsed from fatigue during the efforts to rescue the survivors' launch, was hauled up to the top of the cliffs.
