FEILDING SALE

HEAVY SHEEP YARDING

EWES FROM EAST COAST

Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on Friday's FeilcUng sale:—We submitted another large yarding of sheep of all classes, breeding ewes both 2tooths and aged sorts being in the majority. In the two-tooth section we penned several lines of straight station ewes from the east coast. At the commencement of the sale the inquiry for these was slow but as the sale progressed the demand hardened and we report having effected practically a total clearance at values on a par with the previous week's rates. In the aged ewe section we yarded several lines of reliable 4 and 5-year ewes and have to report a strong demand with a total clearance at auction for all lots offered, values being from Is to Is 6d higher than the previous week. A strong demand was in evidence in the store lamb section and here again we have to report an excellent clearance at auction, values being firm on recent sales. A light yarding came to hand in the fat sheep section^ the market showing an easing tendency. A heavy penning of cattle of all classes came to hand and we report a strong inquiry for all classes with the exception of run-bred cattle, values in all cases being on a par with recent sales, with a slow inquiry for station-bred cattle. Fat cattle ex the dairy sold freely at full late rates. The quality of the two-tooth ewes, which comprised many useful lines, was not up to the previous week's entry, but there was a very fair sale in this section. Full-mouth «wes met with a strong sale for any lines with sound mouths. Heavy-conditioned and irregular mouthing lines were more difficult to sell. Store lambs met with fair competition for best sorts, but with a steady tone about the lower grade. Two full races of rams of all ages and de^ scription sold at prices, in keeping with quality. The entry of run cattle "was the heaviest seen in the yards since the spring. However, the quality could have been better and .sales at auction were small, although private selling took place after the sale, The beef entry was a medium one, with stronger competition and a sound sale.
