WILLIE WIN EASILY

PENINSULA CUP SUCCESS

(Special to the "Evening Post")

CHRISTCHURCH, March 6.

The Banks Peninsula Racing Club held its Autumn Meeting in ideal conditions. There was a large attendance to witness some excellent racing, and it was one of the most successful meetings ever held on the course. The totalisator handled £16,542, as against £12,496 30s last year, an increase of £4045 10s. Willie Win, owned in the district, had an easy and popular win in the Peninsula Cup. : Racing for the straight Last Refrain had Palady, Willie Win, Mount Val, and Top Notch as his nearest attendants.' Once in the straight Willie Win moved up, beating Last Refrain easily x by' two lengths. Tunneller, after being last all the way to the straight, finished with a strong run to beat Top Notch fpr third. Palady and Ponty were next, then Mount Val, with Silver Sight last. i Knockfin whipped round and was hopelessly left an the Kinloch Handicap, and Epris and Fiord lost several lengths. Metal Bird led all the way. Rebel Chief, Great Star, Wino, and Invoice followed him to the straight, where Manetho joined in, with Fiord moving up. Great Star challenged in the straight but Metal Bird beat him by a head, with Rebel Chief a length away. Fiord was close up fourth, and with a good jump-out might have won. Manetho and Cyclonic were next. The West Coaster, Metal Bird, had not won a race in Canterbury for a long time. Epris had his chance settled by moving off slowly, but even whenhegot going he did not race up to expectations. • In the Forsyth Hack Handicap, G.
