The Minister of Mines (the Hon. P. C. Webb) arrived in Wellington from the South Island yesterday.

The Minister of Labour (the. Hon. H. T. Armstrong), who is to represent the Government at the International Labour Conference at Geneva, will leave Wellington on April 6 by the Awatea for Sydney, where he will join an Orient liner. On reaching Naples, the Minister. will proceed overland to London, arriving there on May 11, a day before the Coronation of King George" VI. He will be accompanied by Mrs. Armstrong and his private secretary, Mr. W. S. Shonby.

The Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. .E. Parry) will leave Wellington tonight for Timaru, where he will represent the Government at the Municipal Conference. Subsequently the Minister will visit other South Island centres and confer with local authorities oh the provisions of the Local Government (Amalgamation Schemes) Bill, which is to be considered by Parliament next session.

Mr. W. J. Rogers, Mayor of Wanganui, is visiting Wellington. ;

Mr. W. T. Anderton, M.P. for Eden, who has been visiting Wellington, is leaving tonight for the South Island.

Mr. J. B. F. Cotterill, M.P. for Wanganui, is visiting Wellington. '

Messrs. A. W; Fitzgibbon and H. L. Davis, manager and assitaht manager respectively of the Hotel St.' George, have resigned their positions, and will shortly enter into business on their own account.

Captain Piers Jones, of North Wales, accompanied .by his wife, and ,' his sister, Mrs. M. Spencer, arrived from Sydney by the Awatea today for a sixweeks' holiday in the North Island, where they intend to do some trout fishing. .

Rear-Admiral H. J. Feakes arrived by the Awatea from Sydney today for a holiday visit to New Zealand, after which he will travel to England. RearAdmiral Feakes, who is accompanied by his wife, has spent much time in travelling since he retired, and South America is the only large country'in the world he has not visited. He has two homes, on« in Sydney and one in London. '

Lieutenant-Colonel George Dry, secretary of the men's social service of the Salvation Army in the Dominion, is visiting Auckland.

Mr. F. N. Ambler, president, of the Auckland Manufacturers' Association, has. returned to Auckland from Wellington. • ■

Mr. F. C. Jacobs, resident engineer of the Auckland Hospital Board, has beer, re-elected president of the Public Hospitals Engineers' Association, for a further period of two years.

The Rev. R. Dent, of Thames, has been appointed to the Brisbane West End circuit, Australia. His final services will be conducted in Thames on Sunday, March 21, and, with Mrs. Dent, he will leave for.Sydney at the end oJC the month. The Rev. A. N. Stotter, of Palmerston North, has been appointed to the.Thames circuit.
