NELSON,. This
Over 350 members.of Dominion, firs brigades attending the, annual' conference and biennial demonstrations were welcomed at the Botanical Reserve yesterday. The conference opened today, there being 127 delegates present.^ Dominion record. '•" ■' • '
Superintendent A. Craig (Hamilton) welcomed the delegates and gave a brief address. The conference proceeded to consideration of the remits. Mr. R. Girling Butcher, Inspector ot Fire Brigades, was present. The deliberations will continue tomorrow. Wednesday will be a free day, and the demonstrations will be held on the remaining days of the week.
the Ministry's scattered/witnesses is thus often a mere difference of emphasis. The policeman, regarding his job in terms of individuals and of guilt blames the individual and estimates the guilt. The surveyor, regarding his job in terms of relieving the individual from all possibility ■of error blames the road which deceived the individual. There is a distinct case for accepting Mr. Bennetts percentage as against the Ministry's percentage. At any rate, the discrepancy between the two is so large that Mr. Hore-Belisha is bound to analyse the point closely during the coming months, and motorists will be ~ surprised if the Ministry does not revise •its..opinion in the near future.
