CARD INDEX FOR "REDS"
The Burgos (Insurgent) Government is preparing to list in a card index 80,000 Spaniards with "Red or Leftist political backgrounds," according to an Avila paper. Others being put on the record are former convicts, lawbreakers, Freemasons, and a number of wealthy persons who have not yet declared allegiance to the Insurgent Government and whose sources of income are being investigated. Lieut.Colonel Pedro Romero Bassart, one of tbe heroes of the siege of the Toledo Alcazar and now chief of the Civil Guard, is reported to have been placed in charge of this work.
