FEILDING STOCK SALE

FEILDING, March 5.

About 13,000 sheep and 1000 head of cattle were yarded at the Feilding sale today. A buying demand was evident, but bidding was temperate, and despite an expectation of a farthing drop in the lamb export schedule, the price of lambs was above recent sales.^Passings were frequent on both two-tooth ewes and station cattle, due to high reserves. The cattle were rather a mixed lot.

The ewes ran from some of really good quality to a great number of second and third class; £2 ' was refused for a large line of fair average quality and 37s 6d for 200 medium ewes.' Pens of lower quality sold at 30s upwards. Aged ewes were in steady supply and sold at reasonable prices. About 300 wethers ,'were cenned and an exceptional pen of 113 four- and six-tooths sold at 26s Gd. The only pen of fattening ewes sold at 16s 7dfor 114-good well-mouthed sheep.The. expectation of a farthing drop in the schedule did not appear to dampen the._buying spirit for store lambs. A splendid line of shorn blackface lambs made 18s 8d and 19s 9d was paid/for another pen of shorn black-faces. A good average line of woolly black-faces made l«s 9d and a fair pen of shorn made 16s 6d. Whiteface, wether lambs:, sold to 20s for a fair woolly,line and 19s 2d for a very good shorn line; a good pen of shorn hill lamb's sold.at 17s.and another not as- good sold at 17s lOd. A splendid lot of 156 shorn made' 18s Id. Ewe lambs were not of outstanding quality, but sold readily. The best pen yarded made 27s 9d for .woolly; another fair pen -made "26s 8d; other pens sold at 20s Id to': 25s for small to medium lambs. . Allowing, for quality, lambs •generally were 2s down on prices of a-month ago. . ' ■ -. ■

The small yarding of store -sheep comprising ,40 lambs, 120 ewes, and 100: wethers, sold well. Really good wethers made 28s and 28s 2d, and light sheep'2ss to 26s 8d; ewes sold at 17s for killable sheep to 18s for a good pen of 45. Only odd sheep made over this , price.. .'

Pigs.—Weaners, 5s 6d to 14s; slips, 16s 6d to 21s; stores, 27s 6d; porkers, 33s to 38s 6d.
