NURSING DIVISION'S WORK

The twenty-fourth annual report of the Wellington South Nursing Division state's that 29 meetings were held during the year, with an average attendance of 18 members.

First aid and home nursing classes were assisted by qualified demonstrators of the division, and instructions were given at the Wellington Boys' College, St. Mark's School, Island Bay girls' class, basketball grounds, ' and the Railway Ambulance Division. First aid cases attended on public duty totalled 278, on private duty 205, and home nursing 37. Congratulations are extended to Ambulance Sister Carroll on winning the Grand Prior's badge. Much regret is expressed at the death of Mrs. Stace, district officer of stores, whose help and advice had so willingly been given. Mr. Meachen has been appointed to the office, and stores may now be obtained at the ambulance building.

At the request of .the committee of the Otaki Health Camp, Mrs. Betts and Miss Peach superintended the travelling of children to and from the camp, and Mrs. Betts on another occasion escorted 14 children back to New Plymouth. The collecting of funds continued throughout the year. Mrs. Betts proposed sending a team to England to compete in the jubilee competitions of St. John in May, and in order to raise funds permission to run two art unions was obtained, and nearly £60 collected. By several other efforts, smaller sums have also been added to this amount. Thanks are extended to Dr. Line for his lecture on nursing; to 'Miss "Wells for demonstration of bedmaking and bedside, workj Mrs. Gaby for instruction in poulticing; also to the judges for competitions (Mrs. Gaby and Mr. Hislop); to Dr. Luke and Dr. Brown for re-examination; to the auditor (Mr. Arcus); and to the Press. CADET DIVISION. The commencement of the year saw a division of practically all new members, states the annual report of the Wellington South Cadet Division, many of the older ones having to resign on account of school homework. The first member to win the Grand Priors badge, Mary Carroll, has now passed on to the senior division. . .

The 16 new members all passed their first aid examination, which was conducted by Dr. Richards and Mr. Meachen. Two older members were taken for their annual re-examination with senior division and passed.
