Dr. Popper, who is-34, is an Austrian,' and was born ■ in, Vienna. - He was educatr ed at the Franz Josef Gymnasium and at the University of Vienna, where he received the degree of. P.h.D. ■ The branch of Philosophy in which;-Dr. Popper, is - mainly interested is formal logic and : its application to scientific method. His book, "The Legic of Discovery," is regarded as authoritative. He is; also, interested in ethical- and social' problems. Although his wortc is primarily concerned with- abstract problems and-procedures, he has maintained contact with natural and social science, "believing that philosophy and practice are capable of mutual stimulation; Dr. Popper has ( lectured several times- in England. * Most of :hi3 life has-been.-spent'in-Austria but'he has travelled fairly : extensively on,the Continent. - Dr..
