Blind for nearly 60 years, a Leeds botanist, Mr. "John Wilkinson, who has died at the age of 81, learned to distinguish plants, and flowers by touch and taste. He claimed that there was no plant in Britain that he could not identify. He also claimed that he could identify a man's county from his hand-shake.
